Welcome to SBLP 2004, the 8th Brazilian Symposium on Programming Languages. The main goal of the symposium is to create a forum where researchers, students, and professionals present and discuss the latest theoretical and practical works on programming languages.

In its 8th edition, the symposium will be held in Niterói.

Niteroi is placed as the first city in life quality in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Having an area of 131,82 square kilometers and 459.451 inhabitants (estimated by CIDE in 2000) the city is located 5 meters above sea-level, its predominant climate is hot and humid and the beaches are dazzling.
